Carasco, the Capital of Val Fontanabuona

Located in the immediate hinterland of Chiavari, Carasco is part of the Metropolitan City of Genoa. It is a popular holiday resort located in Val Fontanabuona, as a frame to the renowned tourist area of Tigullio – which includes coastal pearls such as Portofino, Zoagli, and Sestri Levante -.
The town has around 3,500 inhabitants, with an average age of around 45 and an average per capita income of around €18,000 (source Immobiliare.it). Carasco is a lively town which in recent years has increasingly emerged as an alternative destination to the more crowded centers of Lavagna and Chiavari. The town records a growing tourist trend, especially during summer (source: Regional Tourist Observatory).

Arts and Culture

Carasco is located in the first hinterland of Chiavari. The latter is one of the most populous, wealthy, safe, and well-preserved centers in the entire eastern part of Genoa. Perfectly in the center of the Gulf of Tigullio it offers, in addition to the beauty of its beaches and harbor, a wide variety of historical sites of great interest.
Of note is the basilica of San Salvatore dei Fieschi located in Cogorno in Innocent IV Square.

Beaches

The promontory of Portofino, divides the Gulf of Genoa from the Gulf of Tigullio, stupendous views offer the imposing cliffs overhanging the sea that accompany all the way to Punta della Chiappa. From the beaches of the finest sand to the rocks overhanging the sea, not forgetting the crystal-clear waters of the entire Gulf of Tigullio, which has the Bay of Silence in Sestri Levante as one of its most representative pearls.

Sport and outdoor

The territory mainly includes the coastal municipalities of Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Zoagli, Chiavari, Lavagna, and Sestri Levante. In summer there are many beach sports such as sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling, and many sports in the immediate hinterland: MTB, paragliding, Nordic walking, and so on.

Fun

In July-August, there is “Palco sul Mare Festival” free shows of Italian music and cabaret with top artists. The “Jazz Festival,” a festival of jazz concerts involving several centers of the Levant Riviera, also takes place during the same period.
